This November Emily Carr University Library, READ Books and Unit/Pitt Projects bring Arnaud Desjardin to Vancouver. During his residency he will work in the library and present an artist talk, lead a workshop at READ, exhibit at Unit/Pitt Projects and launch his “Book on Books on Artists’ Books” at Satellite Gallery.
Desjardin is a French artist, curator and publisher currently based in London. He describes his ongoing publication project The Everyday Press as a “channel for collaborations with artists, curators, writers and academics to produce acts of publication to be considered as art works.

1.For his residency in the Emily Carr University Library, Desjardin will be conducting research within the Artists’ Books Collection and presenting a talk. Throughout the duration of his stay, he will set up a public reading room and research space in the library mezzanine gallery and will be available to meet with students, members of the ECU community and the public.

A publishing workshop by Arnaud Desjardin
READ Books
November 13, 18, 20, 25, 27 at 7pm
This five session workshop will focus on directly republishing documents chosen and selected by the participants, they will each produce of a reprint of a piece of art related printed matter (book, magazine, catalogue, ephemera, zine, poster, announcement, manifesto, etc.) published during the last fifty years.

Unit/Pitt Projects is pleased to present Re: The Fox, A curatorial project by Arnaud Desjardin and The Everyday Press, with John Slyce. The Fox was a short-lived critical journal and magazine published in New York in 1975 and 1976 by the American chapter of British conceptual art group Art & Language. The Everyday Press proposes a limited facsimilé reprint of the three issues of The Fox. This release will be accompanied by a number of historical documents, ephemera and other printed matter belonging to the period.

To mark the beginning of a new collaboration between READ Books and the Satellite Gallery, we will be presenting the launch of Arnaud Desjardin’s The Book on Books on Artists’ Books (BOBOAB). BOBOAB is a bibliography of books, pamphlets and catalogues on artists’ books. It takes stock of a wide variety of publications on artists’ books since the early 1970s to draw attention to the kind of documentary trace of distribution, circulation and reception they represent. It aims to be a source book of exhibition catalogues, collection catalogues, monographs, dealership catalogues and other lists published to inform, promote, describe, show, distribute and circulate artists’ books. The books editor, Arnaud Desjardin will give a short talk. Please join us to help celebrate BOBOAB and READ at the Satellite!
