The Emily Carr University Library’s print and media collections are focused primarily on contemporary art, media, and design including art history, critical and cultural studies, design research and other creative practices.
The Library contains over 80,000 books and exhibition catalogues, 200 current magazine subscriptions, 3100 films, videos & DVDs, 148,000 slides & digital images, 900 sound recordings and 1000 artists’ files.
Highlights include a growing collection of over 1750 Artists’ Books, 500 Graphic Novels, special independent art and design magazines, a small reference collection and reserve items for specific courses.
The Library's Special Collections contains rare and out-of-print exhibition catalogues, special magazines, an historical menu collection, type-specimen posters, comics, sound recordings, vinyl and videos.
The University Archives contains some of the University's historical documents, photographs, course catalogs, student’s publications and exhibition catalogs.
