The Artist Files are a locally maintained collection of specific materials about Emily Carr affiliated artists, designers, filmmakers and events. They contain exhibition announcements, invitations, artist statements, brochures, posters, pamphlets, postcards, press releases, newspaper articles, journal articles, and small publications. Older Artist Files may also contain newspaper clippings.
The Artist Files are stored under the stairs on the Mezzanine, and are filed in alphabetical order by artist's last name.
All of the Artist Files are searchable in the library catalogue by artist name. It's also possible to browse this collection online by doing a Series Alphabetical search for "artist files".
This collection of both historic and contemporary figures provides documentation of the skilled artists, designers and film makers affiliated with the University. It also emphasizes the value placed on experiential learning from practicing professionals.
