Module 3c: Library Search Tools

Search Tools Activity

  • Using your concept map or search plan from the previous modules, try doing some of your searches in different databases.
  • First use the General Search. How many results come up? How relevant are they to your topic.
  • Next, select a subject specific database from the A-Z Databases List, like Art, Design & Architecture Collection for example. How many results come up? How relevant are they to your topic?
  • Choose an eBooks database like EBSCO eBooks from the A-Z Databases List. Find an eBook on your topic and check the table of contents too see if there is a chapter that you could use.
  • Finally, what else is available on your topic that is not in the library collection? Look in WorldCat to see what books are help in other libraries.
