Sound Effects Collection
The Library has a collection of royalty free sound effects that can be accessed from several computers in the editing suites, or by borrowing CDs from the Library.
Accessing & Borrowing Sound Effects from the Library
Accessing Sound Effects from the Film, Video, Media and Animation areas
You can borrow the CDs, or access the sound effects on the local network from 3 computers in the Film, Video and Media area (Stations 1, 2, and 4), or from in Animation (Station 12 in 288B). Talk to the technicians in each area to find out how to search and access the files.
Borrowing the Sound Effects CDs
Sound Effects CDs are located at the end of the Exhibition Catalogues, near the elevator. Students, staff, and faculty can take out as many as they want for one day loan.
Here's how to find the CD with the sound effects that you want:
- Search the Sound Ideas website for the sound effect you're looking for, for example, "dogs barking".
- Use the chart below to see if the Library has the series that the sound effect is on. The Library does not have all the CDs listed on the Sound Ideas website.
- If the Library does have the series, note the disc numbers.
- Ask at the Circulation Desk for the discs that you want.
