Emily Carr and Colonialism

INTRODUCTION

Since the publication of Marcia Crosby's Construction of the Imaginary Indian in 1991, (available here in The Vancouver Anthology), much has been written about Emily Carr's colonial legacy. This guide features books, articles, web resources, and video presentations providing an overview of academic and artistic debates surrounding Emily Carr in the last 30 years.

This guide was put together by Michael Pollard, a member of the circulation team at the Emily Carr Library, and a descendant of European settlers. This guide is a work in progress and we encourage any feedback or suggestions from the ECU community. If you have any comments please send us an email at library@ecuad.ca
