This animated short tells the true story of a Cree family's strange encounter one winter night, which results in a conversation beyond words.
Vistas is a series of 13 short films on nationhood from 13 Indigenous filmmakers from Halifax to Vancouver. It was a collaborative project between the NFB and APTN to bring Indigenous perspectives and stories to an international audience.

Skwigly are proud to present the first panel from Visible In Visuals, a new organisation pushing to make the animation and VFX industries more diverse and inclusive through honest, open conversation. Following on from animator Tanya Scott's Skwigly article 'Inclusion & Diversity in UK Animation Workforce: A Response' and subsequent online discussions, the first Visible in Visuals panel focuses on workplace diversity and inclusion from the varying perspectives of panelists Bimpe Alliu, Mohamed Orekan, Rizwan Rafiq and Tanya Scott. Ecstatic Truth is an annual symposium on animated documentary founded in 2016 that explores issues arising from the interface between notions of animation and of documentary (conceptualised very broadly as non-fiction), with a particular interest in questions raised by experimental and practitioner perspectives. According to Werner Herzog, mere facts constitute an accountant’s reality, but it is the ecstatic truth (a poetic reality) that can capture more faithfully the nuances and depths of human experiences. Given that animation (or manipulated moving image in all of its expanded forms) has the freedom to represent, stylize or reimagine the world, it lends itself well to this aspirational form of documentary filmmaking.

AfroAnimation is a platform dedicated to empowering creatives, creating employment pathways and increasing diverse and women representation in the animation industry. We do this by connecting creators of color from around the globe, once a year to Hollywood and Canadian film and television companies to meet and discuss important topics relative to the vertical, gain new insights, recruit, screen indie films, network, award and celebrate.
