General Search

As of Monday, Dec 16 2024, General Search has a new UI and functions.

EBSCO, the vendor behind EBSCO Discovery Service — known locally as General Search — has redesigned the user interface.

As of January 2025, all library workshops will use the new interface.

Same content, new functions & look.

General Search is

• ECU Library's name for EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS)
• A single interface where you can search for print books, magazines, ebooks, journal articles, and other library resources
• Accessible on or off campus with your ECU email log-in & password

General Search includes

• Everything in the library catalogue (books, artist's books, exhibition catalogues etc.)
• All EBSCO databases & ebooks ECU Library subscribes to
• Full-text links to most content from non-EBSCO databases
• Links to print and digital journal subscriptions (use Publication Finder)
• Links to videos from Bloomsbury Videos, Criterion on Demand, Feature Films @ECU, Kanopy, NFB, World Cinema Collection

General Search does not include

• ProQuest's Art, Design & Architecture Collection
• Image collections e.g. Artstor
• Open access archives and special collections e.g. AIGA Archives, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum Collection, the V&A Online Collections
