General Search

A guide to using ECU's General Search discovery system.

Highlights

Search results are filtered by default to only resources available through the ECU library

You will see only print books in the library, videos, full-text ebooks and full-text articles in journals, magazines, conference proceedings etc.

To see more results, you must remove the filter.

WHAT TO DO
  1. Click on "all filters" to expand the filter panel on the right
  2. Under Active filters, click on the X next to "Available in Library Collection" to remove the filter
  3. Click Apply

You can get access to resources not available through the ECU library through InterLibrary Loan or visiting our partner libraries.

Applied filters will remain by default when you modify your search terms

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Here is a scenario to explain:

  1. You search "art history" and filter for Full Text Results and Past 5 Years.
  2. You add "asia" to the search terms in the search bar.
  3. When you run your new search of "art history asia", the Full Text Results and Past 5 Years filters will "stick" and apply to this new search.

WHAT IF DON'T WANT FILTERS FROM MY FIRST SEARCH TO STICK?

You can:

  • Unlock the sticky filters in the right filter panel
